Dr Lei Huang
Dr Lei Huang obtained his PhD in Molecular Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia in the US and currently works as a Senior Lecturer in Translational Immunology in the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Newcastle University.
Dr Huang’s research focuses on how immune dysregulation causes disease such as infection, autoimmunity and cancer, and how to target immune pathways to treat these diseases. He has published more than 60 research articles in journals like Cancer Research, Journal of Immunology, Frontiers in Immunology and Journal of Immunotherapy for Cancer. His work has been cited extensively for more than 5000 times. Dr Huang also holds 2 US patents and 1 Chinese patent for treating cancer and autoimmunity.

Dr Rong Ou
Dr Rong Ou obtained her PhD in Molecular Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia in the US and currently works as a Senior Research and Postdoctoral Research Associate in a laboratory.
Dr Ou specialises in studying T cell immunity against viruses in infections like the influenza A virus or the Lymphocytic Choriomeningitis virus. Some T lymphocytes lose their function during a virus infection and a similar mechanism also occurs in cancer, which leads to lack of immune control of cancer cells. Dr Ou’s work has contributed significantly to the understanding of how T cells lose their activity in cancers and chronic infections, and it has also provided a new drug target on treating these diseases.
Judging Criteria
All submissions will be anonymously reviewed by our judging panel. They will be judged holistically, based on the depth of research (originality and thoroughness of content), how effectively concepts are communicated and the presentation quality (aesthetics, organisation and readability). All participants will receive a digital certificate. The top 10 participants will be shortlisted for a second round of more detailed assessment, from which the final 5 winners will be selected. All winners will be selected by 20th July 2025, and certificates will be sent at a later date.We encourage lots of creativity and rigorous thinking.
Good luck, and have fun!
